Their backs are undivided, but a close inspection of the front reveals that the images are a matrix of fine dots--a process we associate with postcards of more modern manufacture. For what it's worth, these are the only postcards of these ships we have ever seen, and an experienced ship collector has told us the same. We can only offer them on their own merits.
